Customize Power BI Embedded Dashboard From Inside D365 FO- Part I

Dear Consultants,

D365 FO provides a variety of embedded dashboards for users out of the box. Often, there is a need to modify the analytics. This blog will be useful for making report-related modifications without requiring deployment.

Pros :

Easy Access and Modification
No deployment is required for changes, and end users with the appropriate role can easily modify the report.

Cons:

D365 FO embedded Power BI has limited features available by default. Additionally, new data sources cannot be added due to developer and deployment dependencies, and backup history is not available.

Pre-requisites :

If you dont have system admin so System Report Editor Role will be required

Steps :

Open any available Dashboard on Sandbox or Production Environment directly. As an example I am customizing Recruitment Management Embedded Power BI Report/ Dashboard.

Click on Analytics to view Dashboard/Report

Under Options you will find Power BI >> Edit Analytics option

Once Edit mode is enabled you can use all available options to customize report as per your design & Requirement*

D365 FO give you more power to restore back to earlier state

Here in D365FO the multiple backup history option is missing but I will cover it in my next blog (Part 2) with alternative solutions.

D365 Print Management Setup to print reports

In Microsoft Dynamics Ax D365, we have the out of the box feature of print management to print report either OOTB or custom reports of our clients so for that we need to configure the print management settings. We normally faces this warning message when we print the reports without the setting has been done. Firstly , select Form setup ( Accounts Receivable >> Forms >> Form setup ) Secondly, In the General tab , select Print Management Thirdly, In the Document Tab right click and select New tab Moreover , we need to set the listed below details and need to select our required reports to load using print management Furthermore , we now nee to go to All Free Tax Invoices in AR Lastly you can use the FTI to generate the respective report using the print button. This time the Warning will be Gone!!!
